Body

WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District has received, for the sixth consecutive year, the Distinction in Performance award, the highest honor accorded to Missouri school districts by the State of Missouri, for the district's demonstration of academic achievement and progress during the 2005-2006 school year; and,

WHEREAS, the Distinction in Performance award is based on the same performance criteria included in the state's accreditation review process and provides annual confirmation and recognition of a district's consistent performance; and,

WHEREAS, these criteria include Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test scores, ACT college entrance test scores, student attendance, dropout rates, and other academic performance measures; and,

WHEREAS, the criteria was modified for the 2005-06 year to reflect changes in the state's MAP testing program and to include a standard to provide a measure of adequate yearly progress as required by the federal No Child Left Behind Act; and,

WHEREAS, to qualify for a Distinction in Performance award, a school district must meet thirteen of fourteen performance indicators during the previous school year; and,

WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit R-7 School District exceeded this goal by not only meeting all fourteen performance indicators, but also by scoring a perfect 100 points on the annual performance report; and,

WHEREAS, according to district superintendent Dr. David McGehee, the award is a reflection of the dedicated staff members, great students, involved families, and the community's commitment to quality education; now therefore,
