Body
WHEREAS, YouthNet has been awarded private grants from the Kauffman Foundation, Greater Kansas City Foundation-Loose Foundation, DeWitt Wallace, and Sprint Foundation, in the aggregate amount of $455,000.00, to be used in connection with its Schools as Community Centers program; and,
WHEREAS, the focus of the program is drug prevention and the program will consist of themes such as academic achievement, self esteem and social development, and economic/career counseling; and,
WHEREAS, YouthNet has requested matching funds in the amount of $150,000.00 to continue its program; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement, a copy of which is attached and incorporated herein by reference, with YouthNet for its Schools as Community Centers program; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
