A RESOLUTION authorizing the Chair of the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission to execute an agreement with Children's Mercy Hospital for the continuation of the Safety Assistance in Family Emergencies Team for Youth Endangered by Substance Abuse (Safe-TYES) program in the amount of $100,000, on the recommendation of the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission.

Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fiscal Commission was empowered by Ordinance 1771, 1795 and 1941 to make recommendations to the Legislature for the expenditure of Anti-Drug Sales Tax Funds for the purposes of treatment and rehabilitation of drug offenders; and,
WHEREAS, the County Legislature authorized grant matching funds through Ordinance 2373; and,
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has reviewed a proposal from Children's Mercy Hospital (Safe-TYES); and,
WHEREAS, the Safe-TYES program is a program to assist youth where there has been substance abuse in the family; and,
WHEREAS, this program is a collaborative effort involving several community organizations; and,
WHEREAS, the Safe-TYES program received federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services in the amount of $400,000; and,
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has carefully reviewed this 1994 proposal from Children's Mercy Hospital; and,
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Commission has recommended funding in the amount of $100,000 from the Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund for the Safe-TYES proposal; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Chair of the Fiscal Commission is hereby authorized to execute the attached agreement, a copy of which is incorporated herein by reference with Children's Mercy Hospital; and,
