INTRODUCED BY Henry C. Rizzo, County Legislator


Body
WHEREAS, youth enrolled in Sentenced to the Arts Program through the Family Court system participate in an arts education program, community service and expressive therapy; and,

WHEREAS, the Sentenced to the Arts program is funded through the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency with a local partnership between the Family Court, Jackson County, the City of Kansas City, Clay County, PEI, and artists; and,

WHEREAS, Alan Welles has been instrumental in the intergovernmental cooperative quest for funding and the development of innovative programs through the arts which provide troubled youth in our community with new tools for success and an appreciation for the positive influence of the arts; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Welles earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri- Kansas City and a Masters of Public Administration degree from the University of Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Welles is married to Carita and has four daughters, two grandson, and two granddaughters; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature extends sincere appreciation to Alan Welles for his efforts in enriching the lives of the youth in our community, and wishes him continued success in these endeavors.


Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
