Body
WHEREAS, Pascual G. Marquez has more than 30 years of experience in the area of conflict management and is currently a senior conciliation specialist in Region VII, Community Relations Service, U.S. Department of Justice, in Kansas City, Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, his expertise in conflict management has resulted in assignments where he assisted state and local governments, law enforcement agencies, school districts, and community groups during times of civil disorder and community unrest; and,
WHEREAS, since 1975 Mr. Marquez has been presenting conflict management and cultural diversity training programs, having trained personnel from over 400 law enforcement agencies throughout the country; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Justice recently sponsored an eight- week training session which Mr. Marquez participated in and completed in conjunction with the Break and Build program; and,
WHEREAS, this program is targeted towards reshaping the lives of young men and women of the African-American and Latin American community who have been involved in street gangs and gang-related activities; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Pascual G. Marquez for his participation in the Break and Build program sponsored by the Department of Justice and for his interest and devotion to positively transforming the lives of young people.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
