Body
WHEREAS, Benjamin Banneker Charter Academy of Technology opened its doors for the 1999-2000 school year focused on providing educational excellence to at-risk students; and,
WHEREAS, located at 8310 Holmes in Kansas City, Missouri, Benjamin Banneker Charter Academy of Technology offers a world class pre-K through 7th grade education to students; and,
WHEREAS, the school serves the diverse educational and social needs of its students and their families; and,
WHEREAS, the mission of the school is to create a child, family, and community learning center, based upon academic accountability, flexibility, innovation, technology, parental choice, parent-teacher involvement, professional growth opportunities for staff, and public-private partnerships; and,
WHEREAS, Benjamin Banneker Charter Academy of Technology will celebrate National Charter Schools' Week from April 29 through May 3, 2002; and,
WHEREAS, the Legislature commends Benjamin Banneker Charter Academy of Technology for its dedication to academic excellence; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature commends Benjamin Banneker Charter Academy of Technology and joins with the school in celebrating academic excellence during National Charter Schools' Week, April 29 through May 3, 2002.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
