Body
WHEREAS, Nancy Twin was discharged from her employment as a deputy sheriff in the Sheriff's Department on or about September 30, 1994; and,

WHEREAS, in charges nos. 281941609 and 281950890 before the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Ms. Twin has alleged that her discharge and certain other conditions of her former employment with Jackson County violated federal anti- discrimination laws; and,

WHEREAS, after negotiations, the County Counselor recommends that the charges of Ms. Twin be settled for a total payment of $50,000 and reinstatement to a similar position with the County; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County that these charges be settled as recommended by the County Counselor; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Counselor be, and hereby is, authorized to settle the charges of Nancy Twin for a total payment not to exceed $50,000 and reinstatement to a similar position with the County; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Manager of the Division of Finance is authorized to issue his check in settlement of these charges, in an amount not to exceed $50,000, and to effect Ms. Twin's reinstatement, pursuant to the specific directions of the County Counselor.
