INTRODUCED BY Dennis Waits, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director solicited formal written bids under Bid No. 52-97 for the construction of a maintenance building addition for use by the Parks and Recreation Department at Adair Park; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 11757, the Legislature awarded a contract for the addition to Carney Excavating, Inc., of Kansas City, MO, in the amount of $53,430.52; and,

WHEREAS, Carney Excavating subsequently advised the County in writing that it was unable to obtain a performance and payment bond which was a requirement of the contract s specifications; and,

WHEREAS, although Carney Excavating requested a waiver of this requirement, the Purchasing Director determined that it was in the best interest of the County to retain the requirement of a bond; and,


WHEREAS, the next two lowest bids thereon bids on this project were from the following:

Blue Hills Homes Corp. $57,874.74
Kansas City (Jackson County), MO

Gerry Construction, Inc. $64,098.00
Independence, MO

and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director now recommends that award be made to Blue Hills Homes Corporation of Kansas City, MO, for the reason that it has submitted the lowest and best bid; therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that Resolution No. 11757, dated May 12, 1997, be and hereby is rescinded and the encumbrance thereon released; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that award be made as recommended by the Purchasing Director, and that the Purchasing Director be, and is hereby, authorized to ...
