proceeds of the local use tax submitted to the voters of Jackson County at the primary 
election to be held August 6, 1996.

Body

WHEREAS, the constitution and laws of the state of Missouri provide for the enactment 
of a use tax by means of local option election; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the people and the government of Jackson County 
such a local option use tax be enacted; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature, by Ordinance 2544, dated June 3, 1996, has placed before 
the voters of Jackson County a question to decide whether or not such a local option use 
tax will be enacted in Jackson County; and,

WHEREAS, it would be beneficial to the voters of the County for the Legislature to declare 
in advance its intentions regarding the expenditure of the proceeds of such a use tax; now 
therefore,


BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that it is the 
intention of the Legislature that the proceeds of the local use tax, if authorized by the 
voters on August 6, 1996, be used to fund much-needed capital improvements within the 
County and partially fund the expense of operating the newly expanded Jackson County 
Detention Center and Annex.


Attorney

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a 
majority of the Legislature.
