A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute an Agreement with the Jackson County Hist rical Society, for the purpose of preserving and archiving certain County records, at a cost to th County not to exceed $50,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the County currently possess numerous public records which it is not required by law to m intain but which, nonetheless, might have certain historical value to scholars and members of the ublic; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the County that records having historical value be preserve and professionally archived for the use of scholars and citizens of the County; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Historical Society maintains and operates an archives in Independence, and is capable of professionally archiving historical records and making them accessible to intere ted persons; and,
WHEREAS, the County desires to retain the Society to perform these services; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Agreement adequately sets out the rights and obligations of the parties; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Agreement with the Jackson County Historical Soci ty; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Manager of the Division of Finance be and hereby is authorized to ake all payments including final payment on the Agreement.
Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of he Legislature.
