Body
WHEREAS, the Paul Morris Community Service Award was created to honor past or present school board members for their commitment to public education and for their community service activities; and,
WHEREAS, Manne Magady, a former Lee's Summit R-7 School District Board of Education member was recently named a regional winner of the Paul Morris Community Service Award; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Magady was nominated by colleagues on the Lee's Summit R-7 Board of Education where he served for 12 years, providing a voice for students, staff members and citizens; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Magady has served on numerous volunteer boards and committees including involvement with The White House Decision Center at the Truman Library and Museum, serving as a member of Lee's Summit CARES Executive Board, helping initiate the Lee's Summit Kids Voting effort, serving as co-chairperson and member for the R-7 bond and levy election citizens' committee, serving on the Lee's Summit Gamber Center
Advisory Council, and volunteering at Longview Community College's Ethnic and Children's
Festival; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Magady started the File of Life, a magnetic file for seniors and persons with disabilities to assist 911 personnel in the event of an emergency; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Magady has been recognized as the Eastern Jackson County's Volunteer of the Year and received the Lee's Summit Humanitarian Award, the Lee's Summit Rotary Club's Award for Community Service, and was named Retired Educator of the Year by the Jacomo Chapter of Retired School Personnel; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Magady is supported in his volunteerism by his wife Nola, his two children Darren and Nicole and his three grandchildre...
