WHEREAS, Pipefitters Local Union 533's rich history began March 18, 1911, when it was chartered by the United Association, one of the most respected building trades unions in the United States and Canada; and,
WHEREAS, today Pipefitters Local 533 represents more than 1,500 men and women in our community, who serve as the backbone of the piping industry in Kansas City; and,
WHEREAS, the pipe trades industry provides water treatment and supply services, waste and sewage treatment and services, as well as heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems, and automatic sprinkler and fire-protection systems; and,
WHEREAS, Local 533 members take pride in the strength of their organization, which lies in the skills and knowledge of its members, who strive for excellence in each job they encounter; and,
WHEREAS, Pipefitters Local 533 members are proud of their Kansas City home, which was built and paid for by local labor; and,
WHEREAS, Local 533 works in partnership with the Mechanical Contractors Association and provides training, experience, skills, and networking opportunities necessary to install, maintain, and service HVAC and process piping for the industrial, commercial, and residential sectors; and,
WHEREAS, Pipefitters Local 533 is proudly celebrating its 100th anniversary at a special event May 6 and 7, 2011; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes the 100th anniversary of Pipefitters Local Union 533 and extends best wishes to its membership in all of its future endeavors.
