Body
WHEREAS, in order to cover the costs of attorneys' fees for indigent defendants charged with drug related offenses in the Circuit Court of Jackson County, an appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 1996 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund is necessary; and,

WHEREAS, of the amount appropriated, $82,534 will be utilized to pay certain attorneys fees which have accrued through January 31, 1996; and,

WHEREAS, the remaining $493,016 will be utilized to pay the 1996 costs of the drug defense program to be administered by the County Counselor, established by Ordinance 2510, dated February 5, 1996; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 1996 Anti-Drug Sales Tax Fund be and hereby is made:
