INTRODUCED BY Terry Young, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, under the outstanding leadership of Coach Mike Hagerty, and his assistants, Matt Cox, Andy Kohl, Jim Brandner, and Nelson Boles, the Blue Springs wrestling team won the 1999 Missouri State Class 4A Wrestling Championship; and,

WHEREAS, accomplishments of the team include the following:
First Place, Missouri Duals, Jefferson City, MO
First Place, Lee's Summit 16 team Holiday Tournament
Second Place in the DeSmet Classic 12 team Holiday Tournament
First Place in the Dale Ewing Memorial Tournament at Winnetonka HS
First Place at the Oak Grove Tournament
First Place at the Missouri District Championship
First Place at the Missouri State Championship
9-1 dual meet record

and,

WHEREAS, Blue Springs previously won the state wrestling championship in 1980; and,

WHEREAS, this year's team qualified eleven wrestlers for the state tournament, with nine state placers; and,

WHEREAS, those wrestlers qualifying for the state tournament were:
Shawn Kellis 41 wins, 6 losses; 6th place state finish
Tyler Hubbard 48 wins, 0 losses; state champion
Klint Calton 18 wins, 3 losses; 4th place state finish
David Hegarty 38 wins, 9 losses
Jeremy Baker 44 wins, 4 losses; state runner-up
Nate Butler 30 wins, 16 losses; 3rd place state finish
Pat Hegarty 37 wins, 6 losses; 5th place state finish
Jason High 44 wins, 7 losses; 5th place state finish
Ryan Hunter 38 wins, 10 losses; state runner-up
David Nixdorf 33 wins, 15 losses
James Jack 42 wins, 1 loss; state runner-up

and;

WHEREAS, the Blue Springs wrestling team deserves the highest of praise for its wrestling accomplishments, for its hard work and perseverance in striving for excellence, ...
