Body
WHEREAS, each year a panel from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Mercantile Bancorporation Inc. selects outstanding elementary and secondary schools to receive Gold Star School awards; and,
WHEREAS, this selection panel of 28 educators also nominates certain of Missouri's schools for the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Schools Recognition Program; and,
WHEREAS, one of 1998-1999's eleven deserving recipients of this prestigious Gold Star School award was Chapel Lakes Elementary School located in Lee's Summit, Missouri and in the Blue Springs School District; and,
WHEREAS, Chapel Lakes was selected as a Gold Star School because of its strong emphasis in the areas of student focus and support, school organization and culture, challenging standards and curriculum, active teaching and learning, professional community, leadership and educational vitality, school, family, and community partnerships, indicators of success, and special emphasis/character education; and,
WHEREAS, this exceptional school was also selected as one of ten nominees from Missouri to receive national recognition through the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Schools Recognition Program, and was selected as one of 249 schools to receive a site visit by the Blue Ribbon Review Panel; and,
WHEREAS, on May 20, Chapel Lakes was notified that it had been selected as a Blue Ribbon School; and,
WHEREAS, Chapel Lakes is to be commended as a school which strives for excellence in bringing quality education to elementary students; therefore,
