Body
WHEREAS, in 1909, with a small loan and five dollars for postage, George Pepperdine began a mail-o der auto parts business in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, in 1913, the company's first retail store was opened under the name of Western Auto Suppl Agency, well on its way to making history as the nation's largest automotive aftermarket retailer and,
WHEREAS, Western Auto's company motto, "We Give You Quality Service," a principle by which Western Auto operates today, is demonstrated through its dedication to and involvement in the continuing a vancement of our community; and,
WHEREAS, through the generous contribution of Western Auto, Jackson County Parks and Recreation wi l develop the Western Auto Outdoor Environmental Classroom an interactive, hands-on learning exper ence of Missouri eco systems; and,
WHEREAS, the Western Auto Outdoor Environmental Classroom will include a wetlands study area, nati e wild flowers and prairie grasses, a nature trail, a boardwalk, and an observation tower, to be l cated at the Kemper Outdoor Education Center in Fleming Park; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby ecognizes and applauds Western Auto's efforts in assuring the preservation of Jackson County's env ronmental history for the education of school children, youth organizations, and the general public.
Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of he Legislature.
