Body
WHEREAS, the County solicited written proposals for group health insurance for County employees for the 2003 contract year; and,
WHEREAS, by Resolution 14361, dated November 4, 2002, the County did award a one-year contract for group health insurance to Humana Health Care with a provision for two one-year renewal options; and,
WHEREAS, Humana has offered a second year renewal at a 17.44% increase for its HMO plans and a 18.78% increase for its PPO plan; and,
WHEREAS, the Administration and the County's health insurance brokers recommend renewal of the County's current contracts with Humana Health Care for group health insurance for County employees for 2004, upon terms and conditions set forth in the original agreements, including an increase in rates for all plans, as follows:

therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the extension and renewal of the health insurance contract of Humana Health Care, consisting of two IPA Models and a POS Model upon terms and conditions set out in the original agreements, be, and hereby are approved; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Executive be, and hereby is, authorized to execute all documents necessary to effect this extension and renewal.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
