Body
WHEREAS, the Young Lawyer's Association of K.C. Foundation's "Protect Your Child Day" project is a one-day event which will provide a comprehensive array of workshops, activities, and presentations for children and parents on matters such as drug abuse prevention, traffic and fire safety, self-esteem, drop-out prevention, health issues, and legal as well as economic resources; and,
WHEREAS, the Young Lawyer's Association of K.C. Foundation has received private grants from Shook, Hardy and Bacon L.L.P., Local Investment Commission (LINC), and the Courtney S. Turner Charitable Trust in the aggregate amount of $8,500.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Young Lawyer's Association has requested County Anti-Drug Sales Tax matching funds in the amount of $3,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, this is the first year for this grant program; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney has reviewed this proposal and recommends the expenditure of these funds; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute the attached agreement, with the Young Lawyer's Association of K.C. Foundation for the Protect Your Child Day project; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on this Agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
