Body
WHEREAS, the Nativity of Mary Catholic Church Awesome Adventurers Group is chartered through the Heartland Council of Camp Fire Boys & Girls; and,
WHEREAS, this group of fifth graders began their journey on the Camp Fire Trail in kindergarten under co-leaders Sandy Harris and Doreen Rogers, who have assisted these girls through the program levels of Starlight and Adventure; and,
WHEREAS, Leader at Large Colleen Flannery joined the leadership in 1995; and,
WHEREAS, service projects completed by these girls include stamping and stuffing envelopes for a home for abused women, sending "Valentines for Veterans," filling boxes of personal items for the Red Cross, Christmas carolling at several homes for the aged, raising contributions for the Oklahoma City bombing victims, participating in the Independence Halloween Parade, entering a float in the American Royal Parade, and participating in several food and clothing drives; and,
WHEREAS, this group of fifth graders enjoys ice skating, hiking, hayrides, candy sales, and campouts; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Camp Fire Girls, Nativity of Mary Catholic Church Awesome Adventurers Group, and their leaders, for their many contributions to various programs...Attorney
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
