Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 15672, dated October 24, 2005, the County awarded a twelve-month term and supply contract for the furnishing of outgoing mail services for use by the Finance and Purchasing Department to Mail Solutions, Inc., of North Kansas City, MO, under the terms and conditions of Invitation to Bid No. 20-04, through an existing government contract; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 16071, dated November 13, 2006, the County did enter into three twelve-month extensions of the contract, commencing November 30, 2006, under the terms and conditions of Bid No. 20-04; and,

WHEREAS, the County was notified that Mail Solutions, Inc., went out of business in November 2009, after the County already submitted pre-payment for the balance of the year; and,

WHEREAS, the County Counselor's Office immediately filed suit to recover the funds prepaid to Mail Solutions, Inc.; and,
WHEREAS, a short term solution provided mail services for November and December, but with an increased expense of $26,489.27; and,

WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to cover this cost; and,

WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said appropriation; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made:
