Body
WHEREAS, Mr. Michael Carter, President of Carter Broadcast Group Inc., has provided years of service to the Kansas City community; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Carter made his radio debut as a DJ at the age of eight; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Carter's grandfather, the late Andrew "Skip" Carter, founded Carter Broadcast Group, Inc. in 1950, the first African-American owned and operated radio station west of the Mississippi River; and,

WHEREAS, in 1987, Mr. Carter's grandfather, Andrew "Skip" Carter, named him President of Carter Broadcast Group, Inc., which has been recognized three times as a Top 10 Small Business of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce and was inducted into the Mid-America Education Hall of Fame; received the Crystal Radio Award in 1995 and in 2003, the Radio Music Awards Academy's Urban Station of the Year Award in 2000, the Omni Award for Advertising in 2001, the NAB Marconi Award for Urban Station of the Year in 2001, and in 2004 was named as a finalist for the Legendary Station of the Year Award and the Urban Station of the Year Award; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to Mr. Carter's dedicated career, he has been an active member in the community, serving as a board member of the following organizations: Urban League, Swope Parkway Health Center, KCPT-19, Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA, American Red Cross, Kansas City Art Institute, Starlight Theater, United Minority Media Association, Carondelet Health, Jewish Community Relations Bureau, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, KC Friends of Alvin Ailey, Reviving Baseball in the Inner City, Association of Caring Entrepreneurs, KC Sports Commission & Foundation, and National Youth Infor...
