Body
WHEREAS, Yousefi Vali, a senior at Lee's Summit North High School, was recently nominated by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals as one of Missouri's top 100 academic students in the graduating class of 2001; and,
WHEREAS, nominated students ranked in the top 10 percent of their class with upper-level courses in mathematics, english, science, and foreign language, and met the criteria of an "Academic Decathlon," which included 10 "events" designed to assure academic strength; and,
WHEREAS, nominees needed a minimum grade point average of 3.57 and a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1,300; and,
WHEREAS, excellent attendance and involvement with school and community activities were also considered in the criteria for nominations; and,
WHEREAS, Yousefi is currently ranked first in his senior class, he scored 1450 on the S.A.T., maintains a 4.53 grade point average, has excellent attendance, and is an exemplary community citizen; and,
WHEREAS, he was captain of the Lee's Summit North's soccer team for two of the four years he played on the team; and
WHEREAS, Yousefi was chosen as the Lee's Summit North's 2000-2001 Scholar Athlete; and,
WHEREAS, he is the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper and volunteers with the Human Relations Committee in Lee's Summit; and,
WHEREAS, his scholastic achievements include President of the National Honor Society and International Baccalaureate Diploma Candidate; and,
WHEREAS, Yousefi's future plans are to attend Princeton and major in international relations; and,
WHEREAS, he is the son of Sabir and Maryam Vali of Lee's Summit and has a brother attending the University of Kansas Medical School and a sis...
