Body
WHEREAS, Angela Larson, a seventh-grade science teacher at Bernard Campbell Middle School, recently received a $2,000.00 ING Unsung Heroes grant through the 2009 awards program; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Larson is one of 100 winners receiving the award, which recognizes kindergarten through 12th grade teachers nationwide for their innovative teaching methods, creative educational projects, and ability to positively influence students; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Larson will use the grant money to help fund her "iLearn" program, which will utilize Apple iTouch iPods for student classroom use, to facilitate research on the Internet, complete interactive virtual labs, listen to science podcasts, have digital conversations with classmates and other students worldwide, and watch science videos; and,
WHEREAS, students will also be able to use the iTouch as a tool to measure, calculate, graph, study, draw and create graphic organizers; and,
WHEREAS, Mrs. Larson's husband, Johnny, and son, Collin, join in her celebration of this award; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Mrs. Angela Larson upon receiving an ING Unsung Heroes grant for 2009.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
