WHEREAS, Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey (KCFAA) has served as a cultural beacon in Kansas City for 40 years, providing unique dance experiences that enrich, educate, and unify the community; and,
WHEREAS, KCFAA plays a threefold role as an educator, presenter, and unifier, reaching children both in and out of schools and teaching essential life skills through the art of dance, thereby fostering creativity, confidence, and self-expression in young people throughout the Kansas City area; and,
WHEREAS, as the sole presenter of the esteemed Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Ailey II outside of New York, KCFAA brings world-class performances to Kansas City, making it the company's only "second home" and offering residents unparalleled access to iconic and transformative dance experiences; and,
WHEREAS, KCFAA'S commitment to community extends beyond performances, as it hosts annual symposiums and events that facilitate essential dialogues on race, identity, and diversity, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and vibrant Kansas City for all; and,
WHEREAS, KCFAA's dedication to its mission has significantly enriched Kansas City's cultural landscape, enhancing the city's reputation as a center for the arts and inclusivity, and positively impacting the lives of countless residents over the past four decades; and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County celebrates the 40th anniversary of Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the arts, education, and community unity in Kansas City; now therefore,
