Body
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Legislature deems it necessary to enact a moratorium on enforcement of Chapter 6 of the Jackson County Code, 1984; and,
WHEREAS, this moratorium will ensure compliance with federal regulations and guidelines while allowing the County time to review and amend the chapter pertaining to minority and women owned business enterprise program and other contracting procedures; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of Jackson County that such moratorium be put in place to prevent potential litigation and allow for a thorough review and revision of the chapter; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Jackson County Legislature that enforcement of Chapter 6 of the Jackson County Code, 1984 is hereby suspended; and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Chapter 6 shall be reviewed and revised to comply with all applicable laws and regulations; and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this moratorium on enforcement of Chapter 6 shall remain in force unless and until a revised chapter is approved by Ordinance.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
