Body
WHEREAS, the County provides a comprehensive animal control program within unincorporated Jackson County, through a combination of County in-house resources and contractual arrangements; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to the County's program, many lost and unclaimed animals from within the unincorporated county are housed at not-for-profit animal shelters, one of which is Animals Best Friends; and,
WHEREAS, Animals Best Friends has submitted a request for assistance in providing additional space and services in housing and adopting out animals from the Independence Animal Shelter in the amount of $39,400.00; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County that the County assist Animals Best Friends; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute a cooperative agreement with Animals Best Friends, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
