Body
WHEREAS, the regional 9-1-1 system provides emergency telephone service for nine local counties in Missouri and Kansas; and,

WHEREAS, the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), in collaboration with the Public Safety Communications Board, has coordinated the planning and implementation of the regional 9-1-1 system since its inception; and,

WHEREAS, K.S.A. 12-5301 and section 190.300, RSMo, authorize Kansas and Missouri counties to levy surcharges on telephone service to finance the 9-1-1 system and to make appropriate expenditures for its implementation; and,

WHEREAS, by Ordinance 2418, dated June 5, 1995, the Legislature did authorize the execution of an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with MARC to establish operating policies and the rights and obligations of each participating county; and,

WHEREAS, MARC and the Public Safety Communications Board recommend the execution of an updated Interlocal Cooperative Agreement, which will add Miami County, Kansas, as a full member of the system and will correctly identify the newly created Cass County Emergency Service Board; and,

WHEREAS, the execution of the updated Interlocal Cooperation Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto, is in the best interests of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the attached Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with the Mid-America Regional Council be and hereby is approved; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Interlocal Cooperatio...
