Body
WHEREAS, Blue Springs High School student Amanda L. Trosen recently completed service as a Congressional Page for the United States House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.; and,
WHEREAS, Amanda's appointment during her junior year of high school, was sponsored by U.S. Representative Russ Carnahan, and began September 2010, and concluded in June 2011; and,
WHEREAS, out of sixty pages from throughout the country, Amanda was part of an elite group of eight students selected to remain beyond the initial appointed fall term for an additional spring semester; and,
WHEREAS, Amanda has received many awards and honors throughout her high school career, including the Reaching 4 Excellence Young Achiever Award, Girls Nation Senator, Missouri Girls State Representative, Above & Beyond Forensics Award, Most Outstanding Prose Award, Coaches Award for Leadership, Sam Graves Leadership Academy, Missouri Rotary Youth Leadership Academy, Joseph Baldwin Academy for Eminent Young Scholars, and the Jewell Academy of Women in Science, among others; and,
WHEREAS, Amanda is active in many school programs including swim team, forensics, National Honor Society, Drama Club, and French Club; and,
WHEREAS, Amanda is a Principal's Honor Roll student and will graduate from Blue Springs High School in May, 2012; and,
WHEREAS, Amanda is a summer employee at the Blue Springs Lake Marina for the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department; and,
WHEREAS, Amanda has been supported in all her achievements by her parents Mark and Rhonda Trosen; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature congratulates Aman...
