Body
WHEREAS, Lucas Nichols, son of Randy and Margaret Nichols, is a senior at Lee's Summit North High School and has earned the designation of finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program; and,

WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, founded in 1955, conducts an annual National Merit Scholarship competition by administering the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which produces a nationwide pool of semi-finalists representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest scoring entrants in each state; and,

WHEREAS, National Merit Scholarship finalists will be eligible for National Merit Scholarship awards; and,

WHEREAS, through his pursuit of academic excellence, Lucas has earned the designation of National Merit Scholarship finalist; and,

WHEREAS, Lucas is an active student at Lee's Summit North High School where he is involved in Student Senate, Drumline, Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, Club 121, Youth in Government, and manager of girls' basketball; and,

WHEREAS, he has earned numerous awards and honors including nomination to attend the Missouri Bar Conference, Optimist student of the month, Top 10 Senior award, top 1% in class and International Baccalaureate Diploma candidate; and,

WHEREAS, Lucas is also an active community member who has given his time and talents on mission trips to Argentina, constructed a memorial garden, coached the Junior Bible quiz team, volunteered with the Special Olympics, played drums at Bikers with a Mission, and volunteered at the Athletes in Action Auction; now therefore,
