Body
WHEREAS, Beth Smith is one of ten inaugural inductees into the Greater Kansas City Women's Political Caucus (GKCWPC) Hall of Fame; and,

WHEREAS, the GKPCWPC Hall of Fame will honor those women who have made a significant, lasting and personal contribution to women's political equality and who have advocated on behalf of equal opportunities and full civil rights for all; and,

WHEREAS, Beth Smith first took on a public role when she accepted a position on one of Kansas City's first interracial speaking groups, the Panel of American Women, and was later named Chairperson of the Kansas City Human Relations Commission by Mayor H. Roe Bartle; and,

WHEREAS, in the 1980s, Beth focused on finding ways to help women reach their potential, and is the founder of the Women's Employment Network, the Central Exchange, and th Women's Foundation of Kansas City; and,

WHEREAS, Beth has also worked with the Cookingham Institute at the University of Missouri Kansas City to develop the Master's degree program in nonprofit management, which led to the Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership where she is a Senior Fellow; and,

WHEREAS, Beth has served on the boards of the Harry S. Truman Library Institute, American Jazz Museum, Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, United Way of Greater Kansas City, Midwest Bioethics Center, Jewish Heritage Foundation, and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce; and,

WHEREAS, from building relations and neighborhoods in the 1960s and '70s, to empowering women and developing educational opportunities for nonprofit leaders in the 1980s and '90s, Beth Smith has been forging a progressive p...
