Body
WHEREAS, Robert C. "Bob" Welch has served as a local attorney, community leader, and advocate for the legal profession since 1965; and,
WHEREAS, Bob graduated from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law in 1965, joining the firm of his long-time friend Bob Paden at Graham, Paden and Welch, located in Independence, Missouri; and,
WHEREAS, after a few years of general practice, Bob limited his practice to criminal defense and served as prosecuting attorney for the cities of Sugar Creek and Blue Springs; and,
WHEREAS, Bob has served the legal profession as president of the Eastern Jackson County and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Associations, where he is known for encouraging attorneys to work together for the improvement of the profession; and,
WHEREAS, Bob served as a member of the 16th Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission for the selection of judges from 1986 to 1992, promoting his commitment to the integrity and quality of the judiciary; and,
WHEREAS, Bob has received numerous awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the UMKC Law Foundation in 1989, the Liberty and Justice Legacy and the Dean of the Trial Bar Awards from the KCMBA, the Alumni Practitioner of the Year from UMKC Law Alumni Association, and the Spurgeon Smithson and Purcell Professionalism Awards from the Missouri Bar Foundation, and was honored as one of the "Best of the Bar" by the Kansas City Business Journal; and,
WHEREAS, Bob is married to Jake Welch who, with their daughters Andrea and Denise, joins in recognizing Bob for his contributions to the legal profession in our community; now therefore,
