Body
WHEREAS, Lee's Summit High School Director of Choral Activities and Music Chairperson Carla Oliver was recently named the 2006-2007 winner of the National Federation of State High School Associations' Outstanding Music Educator Award; and,

WHEREAS, this award is presented to music educators exemplifying high standards, whose substantial and long-term contributions have had a significant impact on high school music programs; and,

WHEREAS, Mrs. Oliver earned her Bachelor's degree in music education from Wichita State University and her Master's degree in music history and literature from Central Missouri State University; and,

WHEREAS, Mrs. Oliver is in her twenty-fourth year at Lee's Summit High School where she conducts the Men's Choir, Freshman Women's Choir, Women's Choir, Touch of Class, Concert Choir, and Sounds of Summit Singers, and teaches fundamentals of vocal music; and,

WHEREAS, Mrs. Oliver currently serves on the Southwest American Choral Directors Association's planning committee for the 2008 convention, as a clinician and adjudicator for choral festivals throughout Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Arkansas, Iowa, and Missouri, and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the National Education Association; and,

WHEREAS, she has served as the Kansas City Metro District president for the Missouri Choral Directors Association, state secretary and vocal vice president of the Missouri Music Educators Association, repertoire and standards chair for high school music for the Missouri Choral D...
