INTRODUCED BY Bob Spence, County Legislator
Body
WHEREAS, Kevin Zhang, a Lee's Summit West High School senior, was selected for the 2008 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors Missouri's top 100 academic students in the 2008 graduating class; and,

WHEREAS, to be considered for the Missouri Scholars 100, a student must have a minimum GPA of 3.75, a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1,900, be ranked in the upper 10 percent of the class, have taken upper-level courses in mathematics, science, English, and foreign language, have excellent attendance, be an exemplary school citizen, and be involved in school activities; and,

WHEREAS, Kevin has a GPA of 4.59 on a 4.0 scale and is his class valedictorian; and,

WHEREAS, Kevin was Concertmaster and president of the Symphony Orchestra, President of the National Honor Society, the Senior class lead senator for Student Senate, and was a French ambassador in International Club; and,

WHEREAS, Kevin has taken and excelled in advanced courses throughout his schooling, and was named Math Student of the Year, placed first in the Missouri Math League and was named a United States American Mathematics Olympiad qualifier, a national math test for the top 300 high school students in the nation, and Kevin achieved these honors all four years of high school; and,

WHEREAS, Kevin was Physics Student of the Year his sophomore year, Chemistry Student of the Year his senior year, Music Student of the Year the last three years of high school, Independence Symphony Concerto Competition winner for piano his sophomore year, and a National Merit Finalist his senior year; and,

WHEREAS, Kevin plans to attend Yale University and major in Mathematics and Economics; and,
