Body
WHEREAS, each year, winners of divisional derby champions from all over the world meet at the All American Soap Box Derby Championship held in Akron, Ohio; and,
WHEREAS, this year's winner in the Kansas City division was Megan Evans, daughter of John and Sue Evans of Lee's Summit; and,
WHEREAS, Megan advanced to the Akron championship where she won the prestigious Originality and Design Award; and,
WHEREAS, Megan's winning car design, yellow with flames and an airbrushed grill on the front, was her own creation and furnished by her father's company and sponsor, Gasoline Alley of Blue Springs; and,
WHEREAS, Megan, a freshman at Lee's Summit North High School, plays on the Broncos volleyball team; and,
WHEREAS, her many accomplishments include making the principal's honor roll while in middle school, swimming for the Lakewood Cruisers in a summer league, receiving the R.G. Canning Youth Award for displaying outstanding sportsmanship qualities, and receiving the 110% Award for outstanding efforts to promote Christianity; and,
WHEREAS, Megan is a member of the United Methodist Church of Lee's Summit's Youth Group; and,
WHEREAS, Megan is to be commended for her diligence in reaching this distinction and for her personal goal in striving for excellence; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Megan Evans upon receiving the Originality and Design Award at the All American Soap Box Derby Championship.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
