Body
WHEREAS, every year the month of March is designated as Women's History Month by Presidential Proclamation, to honor women's contributions in American history and recognize trailblazing women who are doing work that lifts up their communities; and,
WHEREAS, recognition is in order for one of our community's champions for her work to improve the health of residents of Jackson County and that is Nadine Farris; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Farris was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri and has been a fierce advocate for health and fitness; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Farris is a board member for Kansas City Community Gardens and has worked tirelessly to increase healthy eating options and encourage education about the benefits of consuming fruits, vegetables and other fresh food options; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Farris has been a public speaker and advocate in the Jackson County community for over 25 years; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Farris states proudly and clearly that she has followed her passion of encouraging healthy eating and fitness since her days as a staff member of the YMCA, and is dedicated to the results of eating and exercise behavioral changes, this empowers her journey; and,
WHEREAS, Ms. Farris's longevity in the community has made her well known among the clients she serves and others who encounter her as she gardens, teaches and encourages the community, her hope and passion is that we all get the benefit of living a healthy and productive life; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature hereby honors Nadine Farris, a trailblazer fighting to make the Jackson County community more informed and healthier.
