Body
WHEREAS, on August 26, 2024, the Jackson County Legislature adopted Ordinance 5876 to place on the ballot for the election held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, a question authorizing Jackson County to levy a countywide tax at the rate of $0.05 (five cents) per each one hundred dollars of assessed valuation for the purpose of providing services to persons sixty years of age or older; and,
WHEREAS, on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the voters of Jackson County approved the ballot measure; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to RSMo, sections 67.990 through 67.997 and the vote of the qualified voters, it was established that the Jackson County Senior Services Fund adopt a tax levy at an annual rate not to exceed $0.05 (five cents) per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation on all taxable property in Jackson County, Missouri for the purpose of providing services to persons sixty years of age or older; and,
WHEREAS, this levy has been calculated in accordance with RSMo, section 67.990 through 67.997; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that after calculation of the levy revision mandated by the State and the Constitution, there is hereby levied for the 2026 tax year, the rate of $0.05 (five cents) per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation on all taxable property for the Jackson County Senior Services Fund.

Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
