ORDINANCE 3307, October 7, 2002

INTRODUCED BY Victor E. Callahan, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, pursuant to article II, § 16.15 of the Constitutional Home Rule Charter of Jackson County, the Legislature is responsible for setting the compensation of county employees, not under the merit system; and,

WHEREAS, the Legislature has fulfilled this responsibility by enacting § 285. of the County Code, which establishes salary ranges for these employees, within which the appointing authorities of the employees have the discretion to fix specific salaries, subject to the availability of budgeted funds; and,

WHEREAS, the recent search for a new permanent Director of the Assessment Department has revealed that the current salary range for that office is not in keeping with conditions in the employment marketplace, such that an increase in that range is warranted; and,

WHEREAS, the adoption of a new salary range for the Director of Assessment is in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:
