A RESOLUTION authorizing the Jackson County Legislature Public Works Committee and the Chairman of the Jackson County Legislature to form an Oversight Committee to oversee the development and related events regarding the construction of the Jackson County Vehicle Maintenance Facility.

Body
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the taxpayers of Jackson County to build a new Jackson County Vehicle Maintenance Facility; and,
WHEREAS, the cost of said facility has been estimated at over $3.3 million; and,
WHEREAS, the Legislature has adopted Resolution 13705 which awards $1,345,746.31 to contractors and subcontractors including a 5% change order contingency for the construction of this facility; and,
WHEREAS, by motion of the Jackson County Legislature on May 21, 2001 the Public Works Committee and the Chairman of the Legislature were designated as a special Oversight Committee of this project; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the taxpayers of Jackson County and the Jackson County Legislature to be fully informed of the process of this project; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Oversight Committee will receive public monthly updates regarding the progress of this project beginning in July of 2001 until the completion of said project; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Executive and the County Counselor will inform the Oversight Committee of any work stoppages, construction delays, potential cost overruns, change orders and/or potential change orders associated with this project at the next regular meeting of the County Legislature after said contingency takes place; and,
