Body
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Behm, a Lee's Summit West High School senior, has earned the designation of finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program; and,

WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, founded in 1955, is a privately financed, not-for-profit corporation that operates without government assistance, which provides National Merit Scholarship Awards, worth approximately $33 million; and,

WHEREAS, National Merit Scholarships are underwritten by nearly 500 independent sponsor organizations and institutions as well as with the corporation's own funds; and,

WHEREAS, through her pursuit of academic excellence, Elizabeth has earned the designation of National Merit Scholarship finalist, scoring at the top percentage of entrants; and,

WHEREAS, Elizabeth carries a GPA of 4.23 on a 4.0 scale and is ranked 8th in her class of 334; and,
WHEREAS, Elizabeth is an active student at Lee's Summit West, where she has participated in Habitat for Humanity, Student Senate, the Freshman Mentoring Program, school plays and choirs, was a member of West Side State, the school drama club, Missouri Math League, Clapham Sect: Phase II, the social justice club, the creative writing club, and the International Thespian Society, participated in lighting, set construction, and public relations crews for theater, played soccer, and was a member of the school band; and,

WHEREAS, Elizabeth is also an active community member, participating in her church youth group, choir, and vacation bible school; and,

WHEREAS, Elizabeth plans to attend the University of Tulsa in the fall; and,

WHEREAS, Elizabeth's parents, Jeff and Carrie, and her siblings, Allison, Mary, Laura and Kellie, join ...
