Body
WHEREAS, in 1954, the County acquired property located at 1000 S.W. Eastbound U.S. 40 Highway, Blue Springs, MO; and,

WHEREAS, in 1966, the County entered into a twenty-year lease with the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District (CJCFPD) for the use of this property as a fire station in exchange for the CJCFPD providing fire protection services for the Lake Jacomo area; and,

WHEREAS, the 1966 lease expired in 1986, although the CJCFPD continued to use and improve the property; and,

WHEREAS, it has been determined that the CJCFPD intends to continue to use this property as a fire station and that it would be in the best interest of the citizens of Jackson to transfer ownership, including a full release of indemnity to the County for any liability and environmental concerns; and,

WHEREAS, the County has negotiated a sales price of $25,000.00 for this property based on calculations provided in the Jackson County Code for a permanent easement as a gauge of value; and

WHEREAS, the sale of this property is the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County, and,

WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the sale proceeds in the appropriate spending account to be available for various building expenses; now therefore,
