Body
WHEREAS, the County has been awarded a grant in the amount of $16,500.00 by the Missouri Department of Transportation-Office of Highway Safety for the use of the Sheriff's Office's Sobriety Checkpoint program which requires a $1,500.00 local match for a grant project total of $18,000.00 and the term of the grant is October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006; and,

WHEREAS, Jackson County ranks 1st in the State of Missouri in alcohol-related crashes and this grant will fund reimbursement of overtime used for setting up sobriety checkpoints and other alcohol related activities and allows for the purchase of one sobriety checkpoint equipment trailer; and,

WHEREAS, a transfer of $1,500.00 and appropriation of the grant project total of $18,000.00 is necessary to place the local grant match and grant award monies in the proper spending accounts and the execution of a cooperative agreement ("Contract") with the State of Missouri, a copy of which is attached hereto, is required for the acceptance of the grant award; and,

WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends this transfer and appropriation as an amendment to her proposed 2005 County budget; now therefore,
