Body

WHEREAS, Danielle Smotherman was a Senior at Lee's Summit North High School with an exceptional record of achievement in academics; and,

WHEREAS, Danielle is the daughter of Dan and Carol Smotherman, and the sister of Kara Smotherman; and,

WHEREAS, Danielle had a 4.39 Grade Point Average on a 4.0 scale and was ranked 6th out of 506 students; and,

WHEREAS, Danielle was enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Courses- the most challenging curriculum available at Lee's Summit North High School; and,

WHEREAS, Danielle has received many awards and recognitions during her academic tenure including Who's Who Among American High School Students, Honor Roll, National Honor Roll, Outstanding Community Service Award, and A+ Student of the Month; and,

WHEREAS, Danielle served as President of the Literary Society, and was an active member in the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and Spanish Club; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to her academic career, Danielle was involved in a number of community service activities including: A+ Tutoring, Youth Coaching, UMKC Dental Day, Lee's Summit Historical Downtown Tour, Adopt-A-Grandparent, and tutoring children of migrant workers and organizing a supply drive for them: all these combined for a total of nearly 1,000 hours of community service; and,

WHEREAS, Danielle has received a Spanish Scholarship, Optimist Club Scholarship, and President's Scholarship, and plans to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia in the Fall, enrolled in the Honors College and majoring in Archeology and Art History and minoring in Linguistics; now therefore,
