Body
WHEREAS, David William Kierst, Jr., recently retired as the Juvenile Officer for Jackson County and Director of Family Court Services after 26 years of service to the Jackson County Family Court; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Kierst is a graduate of Rockhurst College and the University of Kansas School of Law; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Kierst married Julie Burns and they have two children, son David residing in Kansas City with his wife Shannon and children Abigail and Benjamin, and daughter Rachel residing in Seattle, Washington; and,

WHEREAS, in 1978, he was appointed Judicial Commissioner for the Juvenile Division of the Sixteen Judicial Circuit and served that role for 15 years where he was instrumental as a presenter, facilitator, and participant in the development of the juvenile justice system for the County and the State of Missouri; and,

WHEREAS, with the establishment of the Family Court in 1993, Mr. Kierst was appointed as the Juvenile Officer of Jackson County and the Director of Family Court Services where he used his knowledge and expertise to implement many critical programs making significant positive impacts upon the youth of our community as well as to initiate personnel policies and infrastructure assessment and improvements that have been critical components in the retention of quality personnel in an effective working environment; and,

WHEREAS, Mr. Kierst has received many awards and honors for his hard work and dedication, including the Heart of CASA award, Hickman Mills Management II School Program award, and COMBAT Distinguished Partnership award; and,
