RESOLUTION # 13202, May 9, 2000

INTRODUCED BY Bob Spence, County Legislator

Body
WHEREAS, each year the United States Achievement Academy recognizes less than ten percent of America's high school students for special achievements; and,

WHEREAS, Lauren J. Moyer, a resident of Raytown and senior at O'Hara High School, was named an award winner for her activity on the O'Hara Student Council; and,

WHEREAS, Lauren is an honor student, maintaining a grade point average of 3.87, and has accumulated 12 college credit hours at Rockhurst University; and,

WHEREAS, activities Lauren has been involved in throughout her high school years are STUCO (she is presently secretary of the executive council), student ambassador, National Honor Society, T.R.E.N.D., Ethnic Advisory Council, YAR, varsity softball, gospel and concert choir, tutor, senior buddy, STEPS, Lasaillian Youth, and conflict mediator; and,

WHEREAS, other activities include volunteer work with the Salvation Army, St. Vincent's Day Care, and Good Shepherd's Home, dancing, and kickboxing; and,
WHEREAS, her scholastic achievements include membership in the honor roll, selection to Who's Who Among American High School Students, receipt of Excellence in Religion Award, a varsity softball letter, and a math award from the American Association of University Women, and a nomination for U.S. Student Council Awards; and,

WHEREAS, Lauren attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in San Francisco, CA, last year, and plans to attend Truman State University in the fall as a pre-med student; and,

WHEREAS, she is the daughter of Brenda Moyer of Raytown and David Moyer of Odessa, and has one sister, Dawn; and,

WHEREAS, Lauren deserves the highest of praise for her many accomplishments thro...
