RESOLUTION #17466, January 10, 2011

INTRODUCED BY Bob Spence, County Legislator

Body

WHEREAS, Lee's Summit High School senior Jordan Davis has been named a semifinalist in the 47th annual National Achievement Scholarship competition; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan has excelled academically, earning a GPA of 4.0228, ranking 41st out of 416 students, attaining an ACT score of 34, and achieving membership on the President's Honor Roll throughout his four years of high school; and,

WHEREAS, because of his high score on the ACT, Jordan is a Missouri Bright Flight scholar, ranking in the top five percent of all high school seniors in the state; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan is among a select group of area students to participate in the Summit Technology Academy Independent Studies Medical Intervention program and he also participated in Medical Explorers through Truman Medical Center, a program that gives high school students a chance to explore various medical careers; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan is active in Tae Kwon Do and is one of fifteen Mr. Tiger contestants at his high school; and,
WHEREAS, Jordan has been recognized for his academic achievements many times, including attendance at the Missouri Scholars Academy at the University of Missouri - Columbia in 2009, recognition by the Lee's Summit Optimist Club as a student of the month, and receipt of the Certificate of Academic Achievement from the Joseph Baldwin Academy and the President's Education Award; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan plans to attend college as a premedical student, focusing on the neuroscience field of studies; and,

WHEREAS, Jordan has been supported in all his achievements by his mother, Theresa M. Overby, his stepfather, John M. Overby, and siblings Adam Turk, Joshua Overby, Hannah Turk, and Elena Turk; now therefore,
