Body
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended modifications to the County's Unified Development Code, governing the development of land in unincorporated Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, the adoption of these modifications will provide for more orderly development in the unincorporated County; and,
WHEREAS, at its meeting of November 21, 2024, the Plan Commission unanimously recommended these modifications; and,
WHEREAS, the recommended amendments are in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Enacting Clause. 1. Sections 24001.2.a.56., Jackson County, 1984, are hereby amended to read as follows:
24002.a.56
56. Dwelling. A building or a portion of a building arranged, intended, or designed for occupancy by not more than one family, with a minimum of 600 square feet, excluding porch, patio and garage. Prohibited as a principal or secondary (accessory) residence: motor homes, travel trailers, or any vehicular unit mounted on wheels, designed to provide temporary living quarters for recreational, camping or travel use or portable facilities on skids, wheels, or other movable devices.
Section B. The County Counselor as Revisor of Ordinances pursuant to section 140. of the Jackson County Code, is directed to change the existing reference in Chapter 240 regarding the definition of dwelling.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage by the County Executive.
