Body
WHEREAS, the voters of Jackson County, Missouri, renewed their sales tax for seven years to provide funding for the fight against illegal drugs in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the proceeds and interest generated from this tax are deposited in a special Jackson County Anti-Drug Sales Tax Trust Fund that is segregated and not commingled with the general fund or any other special funds of the County; and,

WHEREAS, the voters and the Legislature authorized the COMBAT Commission to contract with any organization or entity, whether public or private, which engages in anti-drug treatment and rehabilitation activities, for the purposes of treatment and rehabilitation of drug users; and,

WHEREAS, by Resolution 14415, dated December 17, 2002, the County did award contracts to agencies which engage in drug treatment and rehabilitation activities, at a total cost of $3,093,618.73 in calendar year 2003; and,
WHEREAS, the COMBAT Commission desires to further assist these organizations in the provision of services and has recommended the continued expenditure of anti-drug sales tax funds for these organizations, in the respective amounts set forth on the document attached hereto as Exhibit A, to assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of drug offenders; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be, and hereby is, authorized to execute addenda to agreements with the organizations and in the amounts set forth in Exhibit A, in a total amount ...
