Body
WHEREAS, Anthony's Restaurant and Lounge will celebrate thirty years in downtown Kansas City on November 13, 2008; and,
WHEREAS, the restaurant began when Anthony "Butch" Spino, Jr., expanded the Soup Kitchen, which was a 13-stool café operated by his parents, Anthony and Antionette, into a full-service restaurant in 1978; and,
WHEREAS, Butch and Theresa Spino spent so much time working in their brand-new building that their sons, Anthony III and Vito, literally grew up there; and,
WHEREAS, Anthony III and Vito now run the restaurant, with their mother Theresa still making the lasagna, the cheesecake, a gorgeous four-layer cake, and the house salad dressing, and their father Butch still making the red sauce recipe of his grandmother, Angelina Tarantino; and,
WHEREAS, Anthony's Restaurant and Lounge offers traditional Italian and American dishes, with a casual warmth of a family-owned and operated restaurant and lounge; and,
WHEREAS, Anthony's Restaurant and Lounge will celebrate its 30th anniversary on November 13, 2008, and the family has arranged performances by several of the longtime lounge singers, including Frank Cherrito; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature joins County Executive Michael D. Sanders in congratulating Anthony's Restaurant and Lounge on its 30th anniversary.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
