WHEREAS, on May 19, 2008, County Executive Michael D. Sanders presented to the Legislature the County's new Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Policy and Guidelines; and,
WHEREAS, this Policy will apply to members appointed by the County Executive to serve on the TIF Commissions of cities located within the County; and,
WHEREAS, the Legislature believes that this policy represents a fair balance among the cities' interest in economic development, the development community's profit motive, and the County's legitimate interest in preserving its essential revenue streams; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby expresses its support for the County Executive's Tax Increment Financing Policy and Guidelines.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
