Body
WHEREAS, COMBAT grant match funds will provide camp scholarships for deserving
Jackson County student/leader athletes to attend the Heart of America Leadership Camp
conducted by Fellowship of Christian Athletes ("FCA"); and,
WHEREAS, at the camp, FCA will teach its award winning "One Way 2 Play-Drug Free" program which is a substance abuse prevention program that the County recently sponsored by Resolution 16351 dated July 9, 2007; and,
WHEREAS, each student/athlete will be challenged to sign the pledge to stay free from the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco; and,
WHEREAS, the scholarship assistance will provide $200.00 each for twelve students; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecuting Attorney recommends a Cooperative Agreement with the FCA for camp scholarships; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to enter into a Cooperative Agreement with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor, at a cost to the County not to exceed $2,400.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
